Mens Senior Team News - NPL2 Rd 21 vs Melbourne Victory
The senior team played Melbourne Victory NPL squad away and were looking for a result this week.
Brunswick CIty started the game extremely well and had a great chance in the 3', but the shot cannoned off a Victory arm inside the area, and ended up in a straight red card for a handball after the shot. However, the Victory goalkeeper dived to his right to tip Gonzalez's penalty onto the post, before saving the follow-up effort. The Victory keeper also denied Brunswick players Cileli and Dexter, using his legs to keep out a close-range effort from the latter at the back post. But Brunswick took the lead in the 27th minute, Gonzalez's fine volley finding the bottom corner.
Victory held firm for the remainder of the first half as it stayed in the contest. The second half Brunswick was able to control the game, and went 2-0 up in the 74th minute when Timms headed in a corner to seal Brunswick's win.
Final score 2-0 win.
